Commercial Surety Underwriting Director

• Execute and help develop underwriting strategies and practices in support of profitable growth objectives
• Drive the profitable growth and retention of a book of business of increasing complexity
• Meet with Field partners, key distributors, and customers/insureds to foster relationships and engage in meaningful dialogue
• Lead collaborative underwriting execution and risk mitigation through individual risk over-authority reviews
• Identify and strengthen key underwriting capabilities through coaching and/or trainings
• Monitor trends, emerging issues, and regional underwriting results for the Commercial Surety book of business
• Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to and drive progress in key projects and assignments
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree
• Eight or more years of underwriting experience with the commercial surety sector
• Expert knowledge of risk appetite and risk selection, Commercial Surety insurance products, and industry trends
• Expertise in analyzing and synthesizing complex information to make well-informed underwriting decisions
• Ability to manage multiple complex priorities and projects simultaneously while maintaining high levels of accuracy and efficiency
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence others
• Relevant industry designation(s) or certification(s)
