About the role
Responsible for providing aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions to assist the surgeon in achieving optimal patient outcomes. This position also performs pre-operative and post-operative duties to facilitate proper patient care. This role functions under the direction and supervision of the surgeon and in accordance with hospital policy and regulations. In addition, this position collaborates with the operating room team to ensure efficient room setup and turnover. Additionally, this role may function as a Surgical Scrub as needed.
The value you'll bring to the team: Utilizes physician preference cards to set up operating suites and updates cards as instructed. Determines appropriate surgical equipment and supplies based on physician preferences. Achieves temporary and permanent hemostasis using appropriate techniques. Assists with body plane closures, wound dressing applications, and securing drainage systems. Provides visualization for operative sites through tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suction, and irrigation.
